“The World Series games start midday in Hawai’i, so here on Maui this week it’s been hard to feel the same swell of enthusiasm that San Francisco’s experiencing. But given the many ties between the islands and Kapalakiko (a/k/a S.F.), a certain favoritism for the Giants is presumed. But there’s another reason for Aloha State fans to root for the next closest home team: Tim Lincecum’s family history in Hawai’i.”

Special shout out to Neil Ordinario!

San Francisco Giant pitcher Tim Lincecum started last nights All-Star game, won the Cy Young Award last season, broke pitching records last season and is part Filipino. Lincecum is the first ethnic Filipino to win a major award in the sport of baseball. Keep making us proud! Haha.
