[Keanu Asing was the only surfer voted on to both teams by the fans. Luckily for the South Shore, Asing decided to punt big airs for the Town team.]

The South Shore team represented at Sandy Beach by winning the Red Bull Rivals and edging out the North Shore on Saturday. This event was an invite-only pro surf contest that looked more like a Labor Day beach party; Brazilian-bikini-clad booties lined the shore. Red Bull guzzling groms pounded cans of carbonated beverages under the big, blue tent. DJ’s spun the latest jams, including several leaked tracks from Jay-Z’s unrealeased album Blue Print 3. BBQs fired up in the parking lot. The pro surfers flared up in the 2-foot, shifty wedges.

An east swell provided contestable, shoulder high peaks for the both squads across the treacherously shallow Half Point reef. This wave is a notoriously, tricky surf break with late takeoffs and sketchy sections over coral heads, but it couldn’t stop the Town team from edging out The Country 17-15.

Releasing this Saturday, May 30th.

Aloha. We’re proud to announce that the release of our long-awaited project with Kekoa Cazimero finally has a release date on the horizon. Here’s a short bio for those unversed in Koa’s history: Born and raised on the East side of O’ahu (Waimānalo to be specific), Koa graduated from Kaiser High School as valedictorian in 2007 and since the start of his surfing career, has won 5 state titles. Many of Cazimero’s (he also bears relations to The Brothers Cazimero) first waves were caught at Cockroach Bay (Baby Makapu’u); these days however, you can catch Koa at either of his two favorite breaks: Sandy’s or [Ala Moana] Bowls. Dubbed the “Ambassador of Aloha” (via ESPN), Kekoa has recently created his very own, non-profit organization appropriately titled “The Koa Tree Foundation” which “gives young surfers travel grants to compete on the mainland and scholarships to further their education.” You can check his entire profile right here for further information on the young surfing prodigy. Details for the Homebreak after the jump.

[flashvideo file="video/ALOHA.flv" /]

Many of you know of our surf team rider Kekoa Cazimero, son of the infamous Hurricane. The wunderkind has won numerous surfing contests and has a sick sponsorship lineup: FITTED, Hurley, Audi (yes, Audi!), Da Kine, HIC, Reef, Monster Energy Drinks and Hard Rock Cafe. If you ever see the kid at Sandy’s, tell him “What up!” and throw ‘em a shaka. Or two. Cheee pono! FYI: We’re releasing a special project with Kekoa, something you truly won’t want to miss out on. We’ll be leaking pictures in the coming days, so please keep it locked!
