Courtside seats (waves look smaller then they appear, trust me…it was pretty big)
I got to spend the later part of today up in the North Shore at the Red Bull Team House, our good friend Rob is the main man for Red Bull in Hawai’i, so he invited us down to come and BBQ at the house and get out of town for a little bit. Everything about the North Shore is great, from the drive out there, shrimp trucks, wahines every where, Ted’s chocolate haupia pie to seeing several of the best beaches, not only in Hawai’i, but the world…back to back to back to back to, well you get the point.
It boggles me, that in the two years of living here, I have only been to the North Shore a handful of times, and driving back tonight made me think of how terrible that is…(Note to self, Drive to the North Shore at least once a month, thank you…-self.) Right now the season is in full effect, and The Vans Triple Crown is going down. If you by any chance don’t know what that is check this link and see for yourself. In a nut shell, the VTCS is basically the World Series, Super Bowl, World Cup, Olympics of the surfing world. Having said that, we were basically on the sideline, or court side if you must, watching these events take place…and what better then from the lanai of a beach house perched right on of the dopest, most gnarliest breaks in the world, Banzai Pipeline, drinking beers, que’in on the grill and hand picking beautiful women right off the beach…exactly!
Long story short, The North Shore is an amazing place, and if you do live here on Oahu, and you haven’t been in a minute, do yourself a favor and make a drive out there and turn the cell off and just cruise, solo or with the crew or your better half, whatev’s just do it…take advantage of being able to be able to do such a thing…don’t take it for granted, and believe me, I know its easy to do…
