MOʻOLELO: ALIʻI KAMEHAMEHA (KEKOA CAZIMERO’S SIGNATURE FITTED)

Aloha!

Today’s Moʻolelo / #tbt is FITTED Team Rider Kekoa Cazimero’s signature FITTED hat which was released back in May of 2009 as a part of his “Homebreak” pack. The Kaiser High School graduate / valedictorian and Sandy Beach / Bowls alumni had a big part in designing his custom “Aliʻi” Kamehameha New Era FITTED with some help from world renowned photographer Zak Noyle. Caked in black denim, the brim features detailed teal and pink stitching which wraps around the entire brim with a teal Kamehameha logo and underside, white eyelets and topped off with a pink button, crest and crown. The inside of this beauty is lined with satin and features a collage of the surroundings near his favorite homebreak, Sandy’s, including some really dope murals that encompass the walls of the bathroom. RUN THIS TOWN

When you look at the results of the Red Bull Rivals voting and the Fitted surf team riders, you can almost hear Jay-Z’s latest single, “Run This Town,” in the background.

“Feel it comin’ in the air
And the screams from everywhere
I’m addicted to the care
It’s a dangerous love affair
Can’t be scared when it goes down
Got a problem, tell me now
Only thing that’s on my mind
Is who’s gonna run this town tonight…
Is who’s gonna run this town tonight…
We gonna run this town”

That’s because the popularity of the Fitted ‘Ohana – Keanu Asing, Kekoa Cazimero and Ezekiel Lau – was demonstrated with the peer poll results. Keanu Asing was the only surfer to be voted onto both teams, but is choosing to surf for the South Shore with Cazimero and Lau.

Aloha Kakou,

We wanted to thank everyone who came out to support the Kekoa Cazimero x FITTED release this past Saturday. The weather was amazing but did not lack the summer temperature (the heat was off the hook). The line started from our front door and wrapped almost completely around the building adjacent to us. Vitamin Water came through to keep everyone filled with liquids as they waited to get in the door. Special shouts to Kekoa Cazimero and the whole Koa Tree Foundation, Ito, The Hawaiian Hurricane, Vitamin Water, Unko D at the door, Contrast Magazine for the documentation, and most importantly every single one of you guys who thought that this hat was worth standing in line for. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

HOMEBREAK x ALI’I KAMEHAMEHA NEW ERA

Releasing this Saturday, May 30th.

Aloha. We’re proud to announce that the release of our long-awaited project with Kekoa Cazimero finally has a release date on the horizon. Here’s a short bio for those unversed in Koa’s history: Born and raised on the East side of O’ahu (Waimānalo to be specific), Koa graduated from Kaiser High School as valedictorian in 2007 and since the start of his surfing career, has won 5 state titles. Many of Cazimero’s (he also bears relations to The Brothers Cazimero) first waves were caught at Cockroach Bay (Baby Makapu’u); these days however, you can catch Koa at either of his two favorite breaks: Sandy’s or [Ala Moana] Bowls. Dubbed the “Ambassador of Aloha” (via ESPN), Kekoa has recently created his very own, non-profit organization appropriately titled “The Koa Tree Foundation” which “gives young surfers travel grants to compete on the mainland and scholarships to further their education.” You can check his entire profile right here for further information on the young surfing prodigy. Details for the Homebreak after the jump.

Night At the Documentary
Riding With Koa World Premiere Wrap-Up Interview With Kekoa Cazimero
By: Daniel Ikaika Ito

It took 14 months to make Riding With Koa, the biographical “action-umentary” about pro surfer Kekoa Cazimero. But, it only took one night to premiere the surf film to the world on Sunday May 24 in a packed Level 4 Night Club. Despite a stomach full of butterflies and a club full of family, friends, sponsors and fans, Cazimero kept his cool throughout the event; thanking everyone in the crew and all of those in his support network while on stage.

We caught up with the 19-year-old, goofy foot after signing autographs and giving one lucky grom a brand-new Eric Arakawa 6’ 0” to ask him about the emotions leading up to the premiere, the accuracy of the movie, the Koa Tree Foundation and how important style is.

THE BEAST FROM THE EAST

Thursday, May 14th, 2009 by

This morning, KGMB9 aired a small, but special piece on our surf team rider Kekoa Cazimero, highlighting his Koa Tree Foundation which is a non-profit organization to help local kids who may not be able to afford to fly out to the NSSA Nationals, wherever they be held at at the time. You can also catch a quick, sneak-peak of the upcoming custom hat we worked on with Kekoa. Just visit this link and click on the video.
