Aloha kākou!

For this week’s Moʻolelo / #tbt, we travel back two years ago to 2011 when we released our collaboration with Eighty Four Skate Co. & Vans for a custom built Era Pro. The components of this model consisted of black linen with single stitch embroidering in a multitude of colors as seen on our O.G. black Kala fitted from 2007. For those who may not know, “Kala” in Hawaiian translates to “money,” as in “Money is the root of all evil,” however with this concept and frame of thought, we flipped it into something a little more positive.

FITTED x EIGHTY FOUR SKATE CO. x VANS RELEASE

Releasing Monday, Feb. 14th (Valentine’s Day). 75 pairs only!

Aloha kakou!

This Monday, Valentine’s Day, we’re finally releasing our second footwear project. As you know by now, we’ve teamed up with Eighty Four Skate Co. and Vans to construct a Vans model. The model for this Vans is an Era Pro constructed of black linen with single stitch embroidering in a multitude of colors as seen on our O.G. black kala. For those who may not have been around for our Kala releases, we’ll give you a small rundown on this: Kala roughly translates to money in Hawaiian, and you know all the saying: “Money is the root of all evil.” We’ve flipped this concept into something a lot more positive. We’re extremely excited about this project and has been a long-time coming! For the Vans, there are only 75 pairs. Releasing with this pack is an all black tanktop with white all over Kala print and an all black t-shirt flipping the Vans Off the Wall graphics into Hawaii: Off the Wallows.

FOR THE LOVE OF LIFE AND SKATEBOARDING

This Friday Eighty Four Skate Co. and our good homie Kenneth Brimer will be releasing the board that Kenneth painted. The board release will be part of the the “Boardjunkies” exhibit. The show is December 4th and starts at 7pm and goes to 11pm. The showcase will consist of Mike Kays’ personal collection of skateboard memorabilia from the past to present, from classic decks to equipment. If that isn’t enough, there will also be a VW car show in the parking lot as well…So come down and show support!

“My name is Kenneth Brimer and I ‘ve been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphotic Leukemia. The doctor says that I have a good chance to be elected to have stem cell transplant. You can’t believe how unexpected this is, at my age (36). I have it in me to get over this…but it seems like the fight is only half the battle. I need the fight of other strong people along with mine to kick this.”

Thank you for all the help.

-Kenneth Brimer,

Eighty Four Skate Co. has teamed up with Kenny Brimer to create a project using Kenny’s original art expressing his thoughts and outlook on life. Kenny is a skateboarder through and through and is one of the heads who makes up our local skateboard scene here in Hawai’i. We would like to see that Kenny overcomes his bout with leukemia and is back to 100%. In order to help make this possible Eighty Four Skate Co. is donating a portion of the proceeds from the sales of this project to Kenny Brimer.
