RASHEED CHAPPELL x FITTED

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Rasheed Chappell takes us through a journey of a day in the life, from recording with the legendary underground mixtape DJ J-Love to new up and coming MC AG Da Coroner. One of many episodes to come, keep it locked here for more. Why? Because it’s a fact that this gifted brother will be making some major moves this year, with music that transcends time. Trust!

I’d Rather Go Blind

Jan. 25 1938 – Jan. 20 2012. We physically lost one of the world’s greatest female artists today at the tender age of 73. Personally, I’d put Etta up there along with other greats like Nina Simone, Patti LaBelle, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan and Aretha. Etta’s powerful voice captured the true essence of the Earth, of nature, the soul and of what it means to be human. We love you Etta!

“Most of the songs I sing have that blues feeling in it. They have that sorry feeling. And I don’t know what I’m sorry about. I don’t.” – Etta James

THE DOGON TRIBE: ANCIENT COSMOLOGY KNOWLEDGE

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

The Dogon people are an ancient tribe of wise men and women who live in Mali in West Africa. Their knowledge, wisdom and understanding of life, the cosmos and human society is so advanced, that only recently, with modern science and technology, were they able to verify what the Dogon already knew for millenia: the white dwarf (dead) star Sirius B which orbits around Sirius A, the brightest star in the sky. Before the invention of high powered telescopes such as the Hubble, Sirius B would have been easily dismissed as a myth, as this dead star cannot be seen with the naked eye. This knowledge has been passed down throughout the Dogon culture for years, and kept away from outside predators (aka Western and European interests). There are even ancient drawings in caves that depicts what looks to be their understanding of the birth of the Universe (the Big Bang), as well as drawings of the structure of atoms, protons and electrons, plus their understanding of how the blood circulatory system worked years before Galen discovered it in the 2nd century.
