#POLITICALHARING

Today the family and I decided to take a field trip to the de Young museum in the City to check out, “The Political Line,”  Keith Haring exhibit and to expose Baby Ayden to some culture at the early age of 18 days old lol. The Political Line is an amazing exhibit and it is a must see for those who get the chance. It had more than 130 of his work from paintings on canvas to sculptures to drawings of penis’ on napkins, haha. Yup, a whole wall of napkin drawings of that. This exhibit “creates a narrative that explores Haring’s responses to nuclear disarmament, racial inequality, capitalist excess, environment degradation, and other prevalent social issues of our time.” For designers to find inspiration, to fans of the culture and of Haring, to just art lovers, take a day and check it out.

PRICELESS

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2014

Its a couple of days early for a #throwbackThursdays post but I was going through old videos and found a couple gems. This one was a video that I took in 2007 (I think) when we decided to take a company trip to the Big Island. We planned on going on trail to where you could see the lava from the volcano flowing into the ocean. The trail didn’t really do it for us, so we decided to veer a bit off trail and make our own. However it was just 3 of us that decided to go on this adventure, so it was myself, Ges and Cuzzo that decided we were going to get a better view. Now, I have never seen anything like this in my life and it was amazing to say the least. Words can’t even describe the feeling standing there, feeling the heat of the lava below your feet, the sound of the lava crashing into the ocean, watching everything that is going on and just being in awe. Money can’t buy that kind of experience! Damn, I’m miss Hawaii haha. Anyway, wanted to share this with all of you. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

BABY CUE PART II

So my last post was about the surprise “baby cue” our friends threw us. A little after I posted it to the blog, the homie, Tiff, sent me some pics that she took that day, so I decided to share some with all of you. Again, thank you to all our friends and family who were able to make it that day to celebrate with us.

BABYCUE

Some things never change, things such as barbecues, beaches, barbecuing on the beach but more importantly friends and family are things that will and should never change. And thats exactly how it felt being back “home” in Hawaii for 5 days last week. My wife and I decided to take a quick, last trip before baby comes, so a “babymoon,” if you will. And what better place to “babymoon,” than in paradise. Being that it was such a last minute trip, our friends and family surprised us, well rather surprised, my wife and threw us, as Alia dubbed it, a “babycue.” We definitely felt the love that was shown to us by our friends and family and I know that our little man did as well. It was a great afternoon filled with food, games, the beach and each others company, what more could you really ask for? I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who showed up and a special thank you to my sister Brie and Alia, because without your guys’ planning, none of that would have been possible, so thank you! It will be awhile before we are able to come back, but when we do, it will be with our little man.

HAIGHT STREET MUSIC & MERCHANTS FESTIVAL

Monday, September 8th, 2014

IMG_2344

Yesterday was the first ever “Haight Street Music & Merchants Festival” thrown by Black Scale, Pink Dolphin, Derby SF and Diamond. The block was filled with 3 stages, with DJ sets from Ruby Red I, Mind Motion, Erykah Badu, Talib Kweli, to name a few, people walking, dancing, smoking and drinking. All the shops were open, the bars were open where people were watching the Niners smack the Cowboys around, music was playing, the sun was out. Overall, it was a great day and great festival. With performances by Ya Boy, J Boog, Erykah Badu, IAMSU and the whole HBK gang, I’m sure this festival will be going strong for years to come. I tried taking good pics but I was too busy enjoying myself.

J.BOOG x HOT RAIN x 9TH ISLAND

Last Thursday, I got to check out the homies, Boog and Hot Rain perform at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas. It felt like I was back home at a concert with all the “chee huu’s” being yelled throughout the venue, all the FITTED being rocked and of course, Boog and Hot Rain performing. Boog even brought out Wanya from Boyz II Men to sing a couple of notes with him on stage.

Been MIA this past month but all for good reason…work, trade show, work, got married, flew to Vegas back to back weeks pretty much and did I mention that I got married?! Well yup, I got married at the end of the month so I’m bout that life now! Haha ok anyway, I flew to Vegas earlier this month for the Agenda Trade Show. Got some meetings done, went to some events, networked and connected the dots, you know, the usual.

HAIGHT IT OR LOVE IT

Haight Street has been a popular location even long before any of the “street wear” shops opened up. OG shops like TRUE and FTC have been holding it down over the years while newer ones like Black Scale, Pink Dolphin, Shoe Biz, add to the already busy block. Today I decided to hit up Haight Street to check out the two new shops on the block. Our San Jose family, Cukui, made the trek up the 101 and opened up shop in the city this past Saturday while hometown Nicky Diamond opened up down the street. Both shop build outs came out clean but would you expect any less? These two shops will definitely add to the culture of Haight Street.  Congrats again to Jae, Orly and the rest of the Cukui family and to Spank, G and the rest of the Diamond SF crew.

(For anyone who is looking for our Summer D1 hats, Cukui SF, still has some in stock so hit them up!)

#WAVYVI TURNS ONE

This past Saturday was spent at the park, celebrating baby Violet’s 1st birthday. She spent the day surrounded by friends and family, uncles and aunties, tacos and candy…yes, they had a taco truck there along with the candy table and fondue set. Pretty snazzy set up for the steezy little girl’s first birthday party. It was great seeing a bunch of my friends from High School, some whom I haven’t seen in hella years. I found my old camera so I figured why not start using it more, especially on occasions such as this. But I ended up forgetting that I had it and half these pics are from my phone and/or CT’s phone. But don’t worry Vi, uncle will take better pics at your 2nd birthday party!
