Aloha kākou!

“We forward in this generation.” These powerful words spoken by Bob Marley (Redemption Song), are the foundation for our Fall Delivery One collection. Although it can be interpreted in a number of ways, through our collection we perceive the meaning as “adaptation through change,” and liken it to Hawaiʻi’s ability to assimilate and adapt to a variety of changes throughout its existence, and how we as a people keep moving forward. From the first settlers landing in Hawaiʻi, to Kamehameha’s unity of the islands, to the wave of western influence in Hawaiʻi, and to the present with Hawaiʻi’s ongoing environmental changes—we’ve pulled some of these moments in Hawaiʻi’s history and visually portrayed them within our Fall collection.

As a way to interpret our moʻolelo throughout, we built several new designs and patterns, as well as looked back to a few classics from our archives, all of which can be tied back to the collection’s theme. We also focused much of our energy on the material and textiles used, many even for the first time, resulting in a more refined and detailed capsule.

Through our Fall 2014 collection, we strive to showcase Hawaiʻi’s ability to assimilate and move forward through all the changes it has faced. In addition, we also draw a parallel to our company on more of a microscopic level. Coming up on 10 years in this industry, we’ve witnessed many changes, trends, and even recessions. Through it all, we maintained and pushed forward, stronger and more knowledgeable than ever before. May we move forward in this generation, and may we move forward in each generation to come.

LIV LIFE

Spent an ethreal Sunday doing a whole lot of nothing except keeping the leisure dream alive. Kristen, Capri and I picked up expecting parents Paul and Ashley for a bit of bayside adventure. We felt like explorers discovering a new land as we dropped anchor at the picturesque Secret Island which is more like a peninsula but who cares it is still off the beaten path enough to discourage the unadventurous. The South Pacific vibes were going strong as we chatted the afternoon away under the shade of the Kualoa mountain ridge with cold beverage in hand. Although the entire crew of the F/V Capri M received great pleasure from our relaxing surroundings I can’t help but think that baby Liv, cozy in her mother’s womb was having the best time of all. – RM

Aloha kākou!

Each year, the month of October plays host to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As evidenced by all things pink (the official color of the movement), it’s clear just how important and crucial the movement is. Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women in America, with 1 in every 12 women being diagnosed during the course of their lifetime. It’s an issue that hits home for a large number of us unfortunately, but awareness on the topic is incredibly important, as early detection can help save countless lives.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in an effort to increase awareness within the community, we are releasing a unique Kamehameha 59FIFTY. Featuring a black base, we’ve added a large splash of pink on the two back panels, as well as pink stitching around the hat. The front logo is embroidered in white, while the side New Era logo and back crest are stitched in mint and black, respectively. It also features black eyelets and mint undervisor and top button. As part of our FITSTRIKE program, only 50 pieces were produced.

So my last post was about the surprise “baby cue” our friends threw us. A little after I posted it to the blog, the homie, Tiff, sent me some pics that she took that day, so I decided to share some with all of you. Again, thank you to all our friends and family who were able to make it that day to celebrate with us.
