A SUNDAY AFTERNOON BY THE BAY

Living out here in The Bay, you got to take advantage of the nice weather when you can! So my Sunday afternoon was spent checking out the Treasure Island Flea Market. It was actually my first time checking it out and it only happens once a month, so with the addition to the sun being out, there were food trucks, a band playing live music, kids running around, garlic fries being consumed, rummaging through old vintage items, etc. Overall a great day. Anyway, hope you enjoyed your weekend.

CHEERS TO GOOD VIBES

Thursday, June 26th, 2014 by

Hi again!  I’m just going to start this blog off by saying the weekend was way too short!  Let’s recap…

My good friend, Bree, decided to take a leap and move to Las Vegas and I couldn’t be more happier for her! Personally, I’m a homebody and I couldn’t imagine leaving Hawaii, but to each her own.  When she told me the bittersweet news, I knew I wanted her last day to be special.  Surprise party for Bree was in full effect.  Now, usually the beach is a go-to for a huge get together, but I wanted it to be a little more intimate.  Bingo!  I send a text message to Monique, asking if it’s cool with her that we use her house, she says yes.  Location, check.  Now, how am I going to get Bree there?  Easy, I tell her it’s Mo’s birthday and we’re just going to BBQ.  Haha!  After Bree agrees to going, it’s smooth sailing from there on out.  Thank you baby Buddha for technology and it’s ability for group text.  Lol.  BBQs with us is simple – bring whatever you wanna grill and drink, and leave it up to JJ (Parkz) to cover the dessert course!

It was a beautiful day out and I couldn’t wait to kick it with everyone.  Once we surprised Bree, we could all relax and just enjoy each other’s company.  As I savor a nice cold Coors Light in Mo’s amazing pool, I soaked in the scenery. Everywhere I looked, there were smiles and laughter, love and good vibes.  We came together to celebrate Bree’s journey, and Bree came to “celebrate Mo’s birthday” on her last day home (little did she know this was for her).  My point is, friendships like these, the unselfish ones, bring all kinds of positivity together, and in this tough world, positive vibes and good people make life that much sweeter.  Some people portray paradise to be clear water beaches with white sand, a beaming Hawaiian sun, and bottomless mai tai’s, however, my paradise is being in good company. Cheers to an amazing Sunday…

FEVER BASE

Fever 1

Team Fitted entered the largest fishing tournament in the state a couple weeks ago. Ahi Fever as it is known was quite the experience, 200 boats feverishly roaming the ocean vying for the grand prize of 10k cash for the biggest Ahi… all taking place over the Father’s Day weekend. No grand fishing tale to tell here, the big one eluded us. We did manage a few healthy Ono on the first day so it wasn’t a total white wash. Oh well you can’t catch them all. Special shout out to Uncle for captaining the Hookalele and Paiea Projects family member Jeff for captaining the Doreen K. Until next year. Later – RM

Please take the time to read this message from my sister,

“Two years ago when Noah was diagnosed, I felt like I was hit in the stomach with a baseball bat. I was shocked. No, I was devastated. I cried (shocking).  I was given a “100 day” manual by the doctor and “I’ll see you in 9months to a year or sooner if he gets worse.” Wait, WHAT?  I wanted Noah to get better! I wanted to hit the ground running….but I had no idea which direction to go, who to turn to for guidance, or where to even begin. Who do I call first? What do I ask for? What help does he need?  IDEA, PT, OT, LRE, ABA, IEP was all just alphabet soup. Think of the childhood game Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Getting the tail on the donkey equated to getting Noah recovered and here I was spinning around blindfolded. When I found TACA Hawaii, I stopped spinning. I found a wonderful support group consisting of dedicated, passionate and caring parents with whom I shared a common goal of curing our children of autism. TACA provided me with a blueprint and steps to get me going on the journey.Today Noah is an intelligent, handsome, athletic, affectionate and sweet child who loves to sing and dance. He has a fantastic comedic side and when has that twinkle in his eye, flashes you a smile….watch out! He’ll capture your heart. We are extremely blessed to have Noah as our son.The CDC just reported 1 in 68 children in 2010 have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. Last year I reported 1 in 54 boys are affected. Now Noah is 1 in 49.TACA is a national non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to educating, empowering and supporting families affected by autism. TACA Hawaii has been a tremendous blessing for me and my family. With their support I have found REAL HELP NOW.Please consider making a donation to TACA on Noah’s behalf. Any amount big or small is greatly appreciated.Mahalo nui loa!Aloha Pumehana, The VALDES LUTU OHANA – Kip, Gabrielle, Noah, Kaia and Kylie”

7 days left to help Noah reach his goal and consider a small donation ($5, $10,) on his behalf, please click here!. On behalf of my sister and her family, thank you in advanced for helping in any way possible!
