Aloha kākou!

Our Spring 2014 D2 “Legacy” Collection continues this weekend with the following releases, based off memorable designs from our past.

“Hano Hano” Brigante Strapback
Based off one of our most luxurious pieces, this Brigante strapback proves to be a magnificent tribute to the original “Hano Hano” H Pride that released back in 2008. Fitting as well since “Hano Hano” translates to magnificent, glorious, or honored. For our Legacy collection, we felt the only way to do it right would be to use our Brigante design, showcasing our motto “Aloha Served Daily” which we’ve been living since day one. The entire crown is covered with a beautiful, glossy black polyester jacquard, while the undervisor and sweatband are dipped in a brilliant honey dew color. The uppervisor highlights the underneath with honey dew contrasted stitching. The eyelets are also done in honey dew, while the front, side, and back embroidery all shine in a metallic silver. To continue the high-end look, we opted for a clean polyester twill strap in white with black and honey dew stripes, adjusted by a silver buckle. The inner lining is a perfect ode to the original as it showcases the Hawaiʻi state seal.

“Pride of the Pacific” Tee – White
Featuring our classic “Pride of the Pacific” pattern — originally released in 2010 on a v-neck tee — printed all over in honey dew on a white tee. The printing process on this shirt is unique in that the pattern was printed on the inside of the shirt rather than the outside. This allows for a subtle, muted look to the overall shirt.

“Aunty Bangles” Tee – White
To go along with the two releases above, we’re also bringing back our instantly recognizable “Aunty Bangles” design on a white tee. This design was definitely outside-the-box and thus became an instant classic among our customers. It also features a big crown logo on the back in black.

HEʻEIA KEA PIER

Hey next time you’re shooting the “circle island” cruise and your old lady’s blood sugar is getting low, do yourself a favor and stop by the Heʻeia boat ramp and check out Russ and the gang for some ono grinds. Even better yet, motor up on your boat and tie down at the pier. Keeping the local comfort food tradition alive is the Heʻeia Kea Pier and Deli, serving aloha daily… Well, almost daily; they’re closed on Mondays. If you enjoy eating your food bayside while drinking an ice cold adult beverage, then this is a must stop. The menu changes daily based on what the local fishermen drop off to the pier, but their staples include guava chicken, luau stew, loco moco, and fish and eggs. The decor of this eastside landmark is what really makes the place, in my opinion. The walls and tables are decorated with a lifetimes worth of memories of living by the sea. Russ is never one to be satisfied and has plans to expand the current space to include an outdoor lanai area that will over look the sandbar. I can’t wait. So now you know.. – RM

WINDWARD SKIES

Keeping in this blog’s theme of the celebration of leisure I share with you my Saturday. It actually started early Friday morning while I was at Capri’s May Day performance, it’s 8:30am and my flip phone (yeah yeah yeah I know even your Grandma has an iPhone… whatever) starts buzzing and I receive a picture from Sky. The pic was of two Ono on the deck of his boat with an accompanying text that read “And….I’m done:)CHEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!” As soon as the show was over I call him and he can barely contain his excitement as he tells me the fish are biting. I immediately ask him if he wants to make another run the next day, which brings us to Saturday. He meets me at the ramp at 6am and there are already more than a few boats in the water, apparently there was a 70 person wedding going on at the sandbar so the parking lot is packed. Add in the canoe race and you get the idea… Heeia is crackin’. I’ll take this crowd over the late night vermin of town any day. After we negotiate the swarm we head out to where the fish had been the day before. As we are setting the lures we see another boat coming towards us that is hooked up… stoked the fish are still around. 30 minutes and a lure change later we get what we came for a double strike!! always bet on purple when hunting Ono. After we wrangle the fish to the boat I let out few loud expletives and Sky says “welcome to the neighborhood!” yes indeed. Since I had the in-laws coming over for lunch and we had more than enough fish to feed the gang we clean up, re-rig and head in feeling righteous. All this and it isn’t even 8am yet. With smooth seas and the pressure off we get another double strike as we are heading in, again more wrangling more expletives and more stoke. 4 Ono in 1 hour are you kidding me? Anyways the quick trip outside the bay allowed time for a short stop to enjoy the views that make the Windward side of Oahu so unique in the Hawaiian island chain. Back at the house we share the score with the neighbors and lounged around for hours eating and drinking the day away. Escape to Paradise. – RM

Aloha kākou!

Our Spring 2014 D2 “Legacy” Collection continues this weekend with the following releases, based off memorable designs from our past.

“White Wash” Aloha Snapback
Released in 2008, the original “White Wash” Kamehameha 59FIFTY became a highly popular fan favorite. The production and material were unique, and the concept behind the hat hit home as a direct reference to the vast body of water that surrounds us and all the beautiful beaches we have here in Hawaiʻi. For our Legacy Collection, we created an Aloha snapback that pays homage to the “White Wash” Kamehameha while keeping its own identity. We’re using the same cotton canvas base, but this time we’ve switched it for an olive stone color with a very muted distressed wash for a subtle nod to the original. The inside stays true to the 2008 version with the “Tools of the Trade” satin lining, this time in honey dew with matching sweatband and undervisor. The side New Era logo is embroidered in honey dew as well, while the Aloha logo, side crown, back crest, and eyelets are stitched in white.
**IN-STORE EXCLUSIVE: For the purists out there that are seeking the look of the original “White Wash,” we will be releasing a very limited amount of bleach-distressed hats, hand-done by our FITTED team. Only 25 of these hats were made, and they will be an in-store exclusive.
