As with anything in this world, you must take baby steps in order to successfully reach the next incline that life lays ahead of you. In order to build, you first need to lay down a foundation. Without the first layer that should be the foundation, there is absolutely no support structure that allows you to stack the next layer of bricks. The “brick” could be an analogy for construction, building or rebuilding a nation, or building knowledge and wisdom. For instance, when Kamehameha laid out his plans to conquer the islands, it more than certainly didn’t happen overnight. A fleet of canoes were built to transport his selected warriors in order to set out across the miles of oceans between each island, weapons were readied, political boundaries were established, even a heiau was assembled in order for Kamehameha to worship and offer sacrifices to the God of War, “Ku.” Each task represents a brick in the construction of his foundation and overall ambitious plan to unite what we call home today.

MAKAHA VALLEY IMU.
Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 by CuzzoIt really does take a village to Imu. We had the chance to do a little slow cooking… 300 pounds pork butt, 6 turkeys all cooked to perfection over 12 hours.
The lava rocks were dug up from the property over 13 years ago, the keawe wood was cut down just yards away from the pit and the banana stumps were donated
by the Fong Plantation. I must confess that this was the tastiest kalua pig I have ever had.

HALF & HALF
Monday, June 22nd, 2009 by FITTEDReleasing tomorrow, Tuesday June 23rd
Half-man, half-amazing. No, we’re not talking about Clark Kent or his spandex-wearing ego here. Although many would believe if Hawaii ever had a real life Superman, hands down, that title would have to be given to Kamehameha The Great. Besides the greatness he’s done for our islands, he was the only warrior who was able to lift the substantialy heavy naha stone located in Hilo. The prophecy was said that whomever moved the naha stone, a wopping 2 1/2 tons of pure, stubborn rock, would be the one to unify the islands, and we all know how that story ends! Kamehameha moved this stone at the tender age of 14, and literally flipped it over.
